Course Content

  • Module 1: Being an Effective Leader 16 November 2026, 1-3pm

At the end of this Face to Face module you will have a clear vision of the type of leader you want to be and your vision for your team. You will also have an opportunity to be coached by existing middle leaders.

  • Module 2: Being an Effective Manager 28 January 2027, 9:30-11:30am

This Face to Face module will help you to understand how to get the most from a team through effective day-to-day management practices such as delegation, support and challenge.

  • Module 3: Effective Quality Assurance 9 March 2027, 4-5pm

You will know what good QA looks like through following this online module as well as understanding the interplay between department/whole school QA. You will consider types of data available for analysis and explore accountability.

  • Module 4: Strategic Planning 17 May 2027, 4-5pm

By the end of this online module, you will know the importance of vision, mission, goals and will have some tools to help you effectively lead and respond to change. You will consider the ways in which you can bring your team with you on your journey.

Each module will be delivered by expert colleagues from the Red Kite Learning Trust. Some modules may require pre-session work to be carried out and you will be given the option to carry out additional self-directed study in your own time.

The programme can be followed in three routes depending on your level of experience and current role:

The programme for each route starts in November. You can complete a whole route across an academic year, progressing onto the next route the following year should you wish to do so.

You have an ambition to be a middle leader and you want a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding to help to prepare you to take that next career step in the future.

You have just secured your first middle leadership role – congratulations! You want to build on your current knowledge and understanding in order to help you to be effective in your role.

You are currently a middle leader or may be new to post having already had some previous experience.  You want to enhance and deepen your knowledge and understanding and develop further within your current role.
